It's Thursday, February 28, 2019.

Hey, good morning! You look fabulous.

Add one more name to the folding phone fight card: Motorola. Also, we reviewed Sony’s new Aibo and the 2019 Acura RDX. Finally, the rise of the robots includes some autonomous gear from FedEx and Boeing.

Here’s an idea for a name: MPx.

Motorola VP of Global Product Dan Dery told Engadget: "We started to work on foldables a long time ago… and we have been doing a lot of iteration." According to Dery, Motorola has "no intention of coming later than everybody else in the market," and considering the upcoming launch dates for the Samsung Galaxy Fold (in April) and Huawei's Mate X (in mid 2019), it seems safe to assume we're looking at a Motorola launch by summer.

Meet Macaulay Culkin, retro video game nerd

Macaulay Culkin’s game collection only extends into the era of the Xbox 360, he but has an edge over even the most ultra-modern video-game fan. He's played a game that isn't out yet, set in a franchise that perfectly suits his '90s-soaked video-game sensibilities: ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove. Being an executive producer on the game, which drops Friday, comes with those kinds of perks.

The True Touchpad isn’t fully compatible with Apple CarPlay.

2019 Acura RDX review

2019 Acura RDX review

The new RDX’s updated infotainment tech is worth a look, and the True Touchpad controls bring muscle memory back to controlling media and navigation. Roberto Baldwin loved its SH-AWD system, but also said it's an inexpensive alternative to German offerings and there are some tradeoffs for that value.

There hasn't been a release in the core Pokémon series since Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon in 2017, and those were really just "director's cut" versions of the 3DS games from the year before. Now Nintendo and Game Freak have unveiled Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, the first entries for Switch.

Today's Story Highlights

Microsoft Defends Jumping in AR Bed With Military
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has defended the company's $479 million
contract with the U.S. military -- a commitment that some Microsoft
employees strongly opposed. While pledging to engage with employees and
consider Microsoft's role as a corporate citizen, Nadella said the
company would not withhold technology from institutions in democracies
elected to preserve the freedoms of their citizens.

B0r0nt0K Ransomware Threatens Linux Servers
A new cryptovirus called "B0r0nt0K" has been putting Linux and possibly
Windows Web servers at risk of encrypting all of the infected domain's
files. The new ransomware threat and the ransom of 20 bitcoins -- about
$75,000 -- first came to light last week in a forum post. A client's
website had all its files encrypted and renamed with the .rontok
extension appended to them, the forum user indicated.

Android Addition Opens FIDO Password Killer to Billions
The FIDO Alliance hammered another nail into the passwords coffin with
the announcement that devices running Android 7.0 or higher will be
compatible with FIDO2, the latest version of its authentication
solution. Certification of Android 7.0+ means devices running those
versions of Google's mobile operating system will support FIDO2 out of
the box or through a software update.

The Latest Efforts to Make the iPhone Obsolete Could Have Teeth
The Mobile World Congress is the annual event where everyone who hates
Apple goes to grouse about their profits and point out Apple's lack of
real progress. That's pretty much everyone who is anyone, aside from
Apple itself, which also is at the event. Much like CES often does, MWC
tends to spin pretty hard toward the "I hate Apple, I'd like to be
Apple" crowd of competitors.

Today's Story Highlights

Why You Should Source Foreign Talent for AI, IoT and ML
The artificial intelligence revolution has been going on for a while,
but that does not mean all of software research and development is part
of it. It is, nonetheless, an interesting example of what pushes the
software industry forward. The ideas and techniques that brought machine
learning into existence were developed over the span of several decades.
http://www.ecommercetimes.com/story/85869.html

Salesforce Reflections
Salesforce will be celebrating its 20th birthday on March 8. Where did
those decades go? "Time flies like an arrow," said Groucho. "Fruit flies
like a banana." There it is. A respectable chunk of the analyst
community that follows Salesforce converged last week in San Francisco
inside the company's cavernous new headquarters to hear about its plans
for the year ahead.

Peddling Analog Tools in a Digital World
From fountain pens and high-end pencils to unique paper notebooks,
analog writing tools have legions of fans, even though we're living in a
primarily digital world. It's precisely the physicality of analog tools
that makes them appealing to many people immersed in a digital reality.
They're grounding and real in a world that has become increasingly
ephemeral.

The Rules of Sustainability
For online retailers, creating an unmatched customer experience is not
only a top priority -- it is also a business imperative. They must make
sure the items customers want to order are in stock, and that the orders
are packaged correctly and shipped quickly, and delivered to the right
address. Focusing solely on these necessities tends to be a shortsighted
way of viewing the process, however.

It's Wednesday, February 27, 2019.

Hey, good morning! You look fabulous.

Welcome back! Now all these new phones are out there, which one is for you? We’ve compared the Class of 2019’s best flagship devices to offer a dispassionate comparison of numbers -- and our review of the Galaxy S10 is also on its way. Meanwhile, Stardew Valley is coming to Android, and we found a giant phone that barely ever needs charging. It’s just very, very thick.

Give up charging your phone.

Energizer's big-battery smartphone is almost three iPhones thick

This thick (thicc?) phone has an insane 18,000mAH battery inside. It’s also the antithesis of all those folding phones. We needed a palate cleanser.

The 20-gigabit port is finally ready for prime time.

Ultra-fast USB 3.2 is coming to desktop PCs in 2019

The speedy USB 3.2 format has technically been ready for the better part of two years, but it's finally ready for a PC near you. The USB-IF standards body says it will be available later in 2019, hinting that you could see 20Gbps speeds through typical desktop PC ports very soon.

Phone photographers rejoice.

So we're more than neck deep into Mobile World Congress, and our hands-ons have been coming pretty fast and furious. Though you'll have to wait a bit to see our full reviews of the latest flagships from companies like Samsung and LG, we can always take a peek at the specs to see how they stack up against each other. Find all the big numbers right here.

Farming RPG ‘Stardew Valley’ finally comes to Android<br />

About five months after the "delightful farming RPG Stardew Valley" came to iOS, it's ready for Android. The now three-year-old game will be available on the Google Play Store for $8 on March 14th, meaning Android users will no longer need the Nintendo Switch to manage their virtual farms on the go.

In grimmer news, Kalashnikov, most famous for its AK-47 assault rifle, is moving into new territory with a drone that can carry up to three kilograms of explosives and detonate on impact. The KUB-UAV can travel at up to 130 kilometers per hour (78MPH) and stay in the air for 30 minutes.
