Amazon Has Big Plans for Alexa in Homes, Cars
Amazon will unveil eight new Alexa-powered devices for the car and home
before the end of the year, according to a report. They include a
microwave oven, an amplifier, a receiver, a subwoofer and an in-car
gadget. Amazon is expected to reveal some of the devices at an event
later this month. All the devices will connect easily to Alexa, and some
will have the voice assistant built in.

The Future of Open Source
Linux and the open source business model are far different today than
many of the early developers might have hoped. Neither can claim a rags-
to-riches story. Rather, their growth cycles have been a series of hit-
or-miss milestones. The Linux desktop has yet to find a home on the
majority of consumer and enterprise computers. However, Linux-powered
technology has long ruled the Internet.

Apple aimed to stretch its lead in the smartwatch market when it
introduced its Apple Watch Series 4 last week. The redesigned and re-
engineered line features a bigger display, thinner and smaller case, an
interface with richer detail, and some innovative health applications.
"There's a lot of cool things to like about this," said Ramon T. Llamas,
senior research analyst at IDC.

Death Watch Begins for Google
The EU has been stretching its wings. In the shadow of Brexit, it
apparently has decided it has the real enemy of the people in its
sights: social media companies and Google. France is even more
aggressive, suggesting that the EU's "right to be forgotten" law should
apply worldwide. Given that it actually does fall within the legitimate
purview of government, it is hard not to agree.

The Morning After: Ticketmaster teamed up with scalpers?

It's Thursday, September 20, 2018. Hey, good morning! You look fabulous. It’s time to give out some early impressions of Apple’s latest Watch and find out what happens when Angry Birds meets the real world. Oh, and if you think buying tickets online just isn’t fair, you’re probably right. (View in browser.) All you need to play it is a $2,300 AR headset. 'Angry Birds' makes its Magic Leap debut Angry Birds FPS: First Person Slingshot was designed in collaboration with Resolution Games to play well in augmented reality. Instead of swiping from left to right to fling your birds on a touchscreen, you'll be holding the slingshot in your hand and shooting your avian friends in a three-dimensional environment from a first-person perspective, set in the real world. The graphics were consistently colorful and crisp, and Nicole Lee could actually walk around the structure to spot a weak point or get a better shot. We haven’t triggered the fall alert yet. There's a lot to dig into, and, honestly, we're just not done testing the thing yet. The company quietly launched a secretive ticket inventory system, TradeDesk, that lets scalpers upload high volumes of tickets and quickly resell them at the price of their choice. Moreover, Ticketmaster salespeople caught on camera were adamant they didn't verify whether or not TradeDesk users were violating terms of service, including the use of bots -- at least one rep was fully aware of the activity. 80 percent smaller by volume.
