It's Friday, October 27, 2017.

Hey, good morning! You look fabulous.

Depending on your interests, today is possibly iPhone X day, Super Mario Odyssey day, Stranger Things season two day, Assassin’s Creed Origins day or Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus day. But it’s definitely Friday -- we checked.

'Another evolution of a perfect formula.'

‘Super Mario Odyssey’ review

‘Super Mario Odyssey’ review

The first big Mario platformer for Switch is here, and it looks like a winner. Aaron Souppouris describes Odyssey as a combination of Mario 64 and Galaxy. While it doesn’t follow Breath of the Wild’s lead as a departure from the series' norm, earlier Mario games provide a solid base so that it doesn’t have to. New features like fast travel, maps and Cappy are just icing on the cake

So did you get one?

iPhone X pre-orders are open -- but there’s already a wait

iPhone X pre-orders are open -- but there’s already a wait

If you’re looking for Apple’s $1,000+ OLED iPhone, then the easiest way to get one is probably by pre-ordering now. Of course, if you haven’t ordered already then there could be a few weeks of waiting (beyond the November 3rd launch date) ahead, but we’re sure you were up at 3 AM with the Apple Store app open.

It’s a work in progress.

Google responds to Pixel 2 issues

Google responds to Pixel 2 issues

Meanwhile, early-adopting Pixel 2 owners have been complaining about some issues with its display (especially on the larger XL model) as well as weird noises. Google has responded to those concerns, saying that a new vibrant mode is coming to make the colors pop on those OLED screens, and that software tweaks will help stem image retention. Either way, it’s extending the base warranty on all Pixel 2 phones to two years instead of one. Oh, and as for those weird noises -- a software fix is coming, but for now affected owners can squash it by disabling NFC.

Google Pixelbook review

Google Pixelbook review

This Pixelbook bears no resemblance to the original Pixel, but it’s cut from similar cloth. It’s still one of the nicest laptops you can find -- and it’s still running Chrome OS. Despite mediocre battery life, its software and hardware, Nathan Ingraham says, justify the high price for users who don’t absolutely need a Windows or Mac PC.

Where does Sony’s headset stand?

PSVR, one year later

PSVR, one year later

One year after the debut of the PSVR, Sony hasn’t publicly updated its sales figures since June. There are plenty of games, however, with more than 100 VR experiences available and 60 more expected by early 2018. So, will the intrigue last long enough for VR to gain a significant foothold on consoles, or have we already seen the best of this accessory?

AMD is setting its sights on laptops with these upcoming Ryzen Mobile chips. And, as you might expect, they’ll feature integrated Vega graphics. AMD’s goal? To power ultrathin laptops that can still play a few rounds of Overwatch.

4. Autoblog's 2017 Tokyo Motor Show roundup

5. Walmart tests shelf-scanning robots in 50-plus stores

6. Netflix will stream a 'Stranger Things' aftershow for die-hard fans

Today's Story Highlights

Amazon to Let Delivery Drivers Open Your Front Door
Amazon has announced a new service that will allow Prime members to
receive in-home delivery of packages with the help of high-tech smart
locks that allow drivers to open their front doors. Amazon Key will
launch officially on Nov. 8 in 37 U.S. cities and surrounding
communities, with additional locations to be added over time. The
service will be available at no extra cost to Prime members.

Taking the News Out of Facebook's News Feed Could Hurt Publishers
A new feature that Facebook recently has been testing in a handful of
countries could hurt publishers everywhere if it should roll out
globally. The feature removes users' Liked pages from their main News
Feed and aggregates them in a separate space called "Explore." In the
six countries where Facebook has been testing the idea, traffic to news
outlets reportedly has dropped 60-80 percent.

AI Integrations Help Sort Out Sales Signals
Clari, which develops software focusing on the opportunity-to-close, or
OTC, process, on Wednesday announced integrations with DocuSign,
Clearslide and Xactly. Clari's artificial-intelligence-powered OTC
platform already integrates Google and Microsoft email and calendar
activity, which gives sales teams immediate knowledge of sales reps' and
prospects' behavior.

E-Commerce Firms: Get Ready for New Privacy Laws
The Federal Trade Commission regulates privacy in the United States, and
under the FTC rules, a website need not have a privacy policy at all.
However, a website must comply with and not violate its policy if it has
one. ifeLock learned that lesson the hard way when " target="_blank">the
FTC sued it for failing to abide by its privacy policy. How do other
countries' privacy laws apply to U.S. businesses?

Google Aims to Turbocharge Online Checkout
Google on Monday rolled out an online payment service that's designed to
accelerate the online checkout process. While the new offering isn't
quite Amazon One-Click, it will eliminate many of the annoying steps
that can slow down the online purchase process and often result in
abandoned shopping carts. Pay with Google uses address and credit or
debit card information users provide to Google to speed them through
checkout.

The Morning After: Microsoft killed Kinect

It's Thursday, October 26, 2017.

Hey, good morning! You look fabulous.

It’s the end of the road for Kinect, and Google’s testing an update for Android that Pixel 2 owners will be very interested in.

The iPhone X is almost here.

Apple denies reports that it altered Face ID specs

Apple denies reports that it altered Face ID specs

Pre-orders for the iPhone X open up Friday morning at 3 AM ET, but according to rumors, the supply for Apple’s premium phone will be tight. Bloomberg reports from the factory saying that the company relaxed specs for Face ID to help boost production -- a claim that Apple quickly denied as “completely false.” Whatever the truth is, that OLED-screened iPhone is almost here, and it will probably be difficult to get -- at least at first.

That’s it.

Microsoft ceases production of the Kinect

Microsoft ceases production of the Kinect

In interviews with Co.Design, Microsoft revealed that manufacturing for its Kinect sensors has ceased. While retailers will continue to sell off stock, that’s the end for the device that launched as an accessory for the Xbox 360 and moved a reported 35 million units. Despite later launching as a pack-in with the Xbox One, support and popularity have dwindled, and Microsoft’s attention has moved on to platforms like Windows Mixed Reality. Meanwhile, PrimeSense -- the company responsible for tech used in the original Kinect -- was acquired by Apple, where it’s being used to make FaceID work.

Oreo update.

Android 8.1 preview unlocks your Pixel 2 camera’s AI potential

Android 8.1 preview unlocks your Pixel 2 camera’s AI potential

We’ve barely gotten a taste of Android 8.0, but Google is already working on the next edition. The feature we’re most excited about? Pixel Visual Core support for third-party apps, which will let any camera app use the phone’s AI chip for stuff like HDR+ photography.

Amazon Key opens your home for indoor deliveries

Amazon Key opens your home for indoor deliveries

Amazon’s latest innovation for Prime members is a little different. The Key service uses an Amazon security camera and approved Smart Lock to let delivery people and other service providers into your home even when you’re not around. The camera records their entry and exit, while to gain entry they’ll use, when necessary, apps on their phone, which can be tied to something like the barcode on a package. We don’t see how this could go wrong.

Nissan’s EVs will swap engine noises for a ‘song’

Nissan’s EVs will swap engine noises for a ‘song’

DoT rules say that EVs and hybrids need to make noise to alert pedestrians, and Nissan has come up with an interesting solution -- take a listen.

But wait, there's more...

1. Verizon will allow 4K video streaming... for $10 extra a month

2. Netflix's 'Bright' movie has a new trailer and release date: December 22nd

3. AT&T looks to DirecTV Now as customers ditch satellite

4. AT&T's '5G Evolution' mobile hotspot promises twice the speed of LTE
